Two Ibis having a chinwag and a good time sharing a hot cuppa, this is what being mates is all about.
After answering an EOI from St Vincent de Paul’s chapter in Sydney, I was lucky enough to be selected as one of the artists included in their new Brougham Lane street gallery.
The brief was fairly straight forward, speak of tales of the area, ideas of community and connection, or of the local natural environment. The concept behind my piece to portray connection and friendship using a couple of feathery locals as the main subject matter. There is nothing quite like connecting with a friend or stranger over a hot cup of tea (or coffee) and sharing stories of your life.
This new street gallery was an initiative by Vinnie’s Ozanam Learning Centre (Wooloomooloo), with support from Artspace, The Holiday Inn and Taubams Paint. The idea behind this project was to not only liven up streets in the neighbourhood but to create an opportunity for connection within the community. Artists from all over NSW worked side by side to bring some flare to this laneway, seasoned vets, budding creatives and artists from the nearby Ozanam Learning Centre.

To get Australia’s largest postal service provider to go 100% carbon neutral, that was Sendle’s goal. Themselves being carbon neutral since fruition in 2014, Sendle wanted to challenge Australia Post to honour the wildlife they so proudly feature on their stamp collections and do the same, go carbon neutral.
Design agency Republic of Everyone were at the helm to create and deliver such a campaign. I was selected as the illustrator to help them. My brief was to select and illustrate 4 iconic Australian native animals to be featured on Sendle’s new campaign paraphernalia and to highlight the dire circumstance we have put their lives and habitats in, they were to be wearing gas masks.
Since its launch the campaign and Republic of Everyone have been shortlisted for a DA&D Impact award in the ‘Environment and Sustainability’ category. This campaign was also featured in Lurzer’s Int’l Advertising Archive Worldwide.

I love painting and I love nature. What better than to see one of my own illustrations go up at such a big scale on a wall.
Wanting to bring some life to a rear laneway of their retail and hospitality complex, our client over at Iceworks, Willoughby gave us one image of a gum leaf as a starting point for this mural. I took that narrative of natives and I ran. I based the artwork for this mural off of my long history, and love of illustrating Aussie florals. From luscious banksia, robust waratahs and calm gums, this wild bouquet is a love letter to the plants in our backyard.
This mural was painted with Mielo for Iceworks in Sydney’s Willoughby.
